Diversity
New Mexico State University attracts the best students from all over. We have students from all 50 states and 71 foreign countries. We are the only land-grant institution that is also classified as Hispanic-serving by the federal government and minority enrollment at the main campus is more than 49 percent.
New Mexico's Only Honors College
NMSU's Honors College provides motivated undergraduate students with opportunities to enrich their academic programs. In small classes taught by master teachers, honors students engage in lively discussion and collaborative investigation of interdisciplinary topics. Honors courses are challenging, but the individual attention makes the honors experience unique.

Outstanding Faculty
From scientists and engineers to writers and historians, our faculty members are committed to classroom teaching. Fostering a dynamic learning environment, they share research opportunities with high achieving students in the Honors College and help define course work in a whole new way.
Research
NMSU ranks in the top 100 institutions in the country in terms of Federal Research Expenditures. In the past year, with wide participation from across campus, NMSU has established five Research Clusters to take advantage of strategic opportunities that build on institutional strengths and respond to local, regional, and national needs. These Clusters encompass interdisciplinary work involving the university's six colleges and independent research units, including the Water Resources Research Institute and the Physical Science Laboratory.
