Course Credit by Examination

Advanced Placement (AP)

Students who have taken an Advanced Placement Exam and earned composite scores of 3, 4, or 5 may be granted credit. Credit will be treated as transfer credit without a grade but will count toward graduation, and may be used in fulfilling specific curriculum requirements. The head of the department in which the course is offered will determine the amount of the credit and the equivalent university courses for which credit will be granted. [Rev 8-07]

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Prior to (or during) a student's enrollment at NMSU, credits may be earned through the College Level Examination Program. Earned CLEP credit will be treated as transfer credit without a grade, will count toward graduation, and may be used in fulfilling specific curriculum requirements. Not all programs of study include electives, CLEP is not useful to students pursuing these programs. CLEP credit will not be granted if taken during the student's last 30 credit hours unless waived by the dean of your college. [Rev 8-07]
