Ranked As a Top University
NMSU is among only 4 percent of colleges and universities classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as Doctoral/Research University-Extensive. Additionally NMSU is home to the State's only Honors College, giving students the opportunity to study with award-winning faculty in small class settings.
The Right Size
Our faculty to student ratio is 1:19 and our 13,000 undergraduate students receive personal attention and feel a strong sense of community and belonging in classes that average 28 students. Just the right size, NMSU also offers the opportunities of a premier research university such as hands-on experience working in labs with professors who not only teach our courses, but who are also on the cutting edge of innovation and discovery.
