Graduate School Awards

The Graduate School at NMSU offers several different scholarship/award opportunities to newly admitted graduate students:

  • Graduate Assistant Tuition Fellowships: This fellowship is for newly admitted graduate students, with at least a 3.5 GPA, who have been awarded an assistantship within their department. It pays for full time tuition, up to 9 credits, and supports master's students for two years and doctoral students for 3 years.
  • New Mexico Higher Education Department Graduate Assistantships: This assistantship is for newly admitted graduate students, with at least a 3.0 GPA, who have been awarded an assistantship within their department. This award gives $7,200 towards a 20 hour assistantship, and priority is given to minority students who demonstrate financial need.
  • Diversity Assistantships: This assistantship is for newly admitted graduate students who bring uniqueness to their department. The assistantship is for one year of support, with a matching year of support from your department. 
  • McNair Graduate Assistantships: This assistantship is for newly admitted graduate students, with at least a 3.3 GPA, who were McNair Scholars as undergraduates. This assistantship provides one year of funding, with a matching year from your department.
